About This Site

Why have a page about this website you ask?

Because as a Technology Instructor for Metro Brokers and The Colorado Association of Realtors, people ask me, Mike Bradley, all the time about my website. Who created and maintains it, how much I spend on it, how I market it, how much traffic I get, how many clients I get from it, and the list goes on and on.

For those who really care, here's what I'll tell you about this website:

• I know how to write HTML from scratch -- learned it in 1995 when the World Wide Web was just beginning to blossom. I designed and programmed this entire site with a little help from some JavaScript pros I happen to know. If you don't know HTML and don't have time or desire to learn, then hire someone from Craigslist.



• The first page (e.g. homepage) of this site is a blog powered by Blogger.com. I selected blogger.com because it's free and I knew how to customize their HTML templates. A blog enables the homepage to stay fresh and current, something Google and other search engines like to see when ranking sites. There are other free blog sites as well as those that cost money. I'm all for free though, especially when it's something from Google.



• This site ranks fairly well on the search engines because I have lots of content and it's regularly updated and "keyword strong." I've taken steps to make the site work well and look good in most major browsers so that search engines can crawl and index it well. This is key for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM). If you want to know more than that you'll have to take one of my classes.



• I've created a truly custom website here. It's not a template or cookie-cutter website that most real estate agents have that they bought from a professional website company. I feel that to succeed on the Internet you have to have something different and better than the competition and I don't see how that can be done when you buy a website from someone who sells a nearly identical website to hundreds of other people.



• This website started in 2003 and it's my first real estate related website. I've built, managed, or in some way worked on nearly 100 websites since 1995 including high-profile sites like police.com, firefighters.com, guns.com, 401k.com, babies.com, metrobrokersonline.com, joinMetroBrokers.com, and even ATT.com.



• Statistics for the site are tracked with statcounter.com and Google analytics. I consult those regularly to see where people are coming from and where they are going. I then work to improve on those things that attract visits to the website. If you're not looking at your stats regularly you should.



• As mentioned before, I teach classes to real estate agents in Colorado about technology including how to market your listings and yourself online and blogging. If you are a real estate agent in Colorado and think you might be interested in taking one of my classes, contact me.



• For the right price, I might be willing to create a custom website for you. I can also give you some names of other people who build really good custom websites.
